These are my icons for wedding and clothing.I looked at my icons on the desktop, then I thought an icon briefly can be the 1st letter of the word(for example, the E letter of Internet Explore, W of Microsoft word) or something to represent for it(for instance, the folder is like a box that can put everything into, the music software Herosoft DVD has the disc and the DVD player ).
I listed things that related to my icons. For example, heart, couple, dress and ring are things that we often think of a wedding. The woman clothing icon is the same. I thought of the pink color, the women clothing in simple display, then the bag means there are more into.

Icons are really hard. You have to figure out if the image itself conveys a strong enough meaning - one that can not be mistaken by the viewer. One of the problems with your "fashion" icon is that, without the words, considering the shopping bag - it might imply "shopping" instead of "fashion".
